Trolleys to Remain in Capital Region

ALBANY, N.Y. (August 28, 2012)-- The Albany Trolleys have been sold to Advantage Transportation Group, headquartered at 137 Lark Street in Albany.

"Our goal was always to be able to keep the services of the Albany Trolleys in the Capital Region," said co-owner of the Albany Aqua Ducks & Trolleys Robert Wolfgang.

"And, we're happy to say that goal was realized, thanks to the leadership Advantage Transportation Group's President George Deutsch," Wolfgang said.

Advantage Transportation Group purchased the trolleys, the company and the name -- Albany Aqua Ducks & Trolleys -- from Wolfgang and partners Maureen Lundberg and Harry Van Wormer. Terms of the sale are private.

"Our plan," said George Deutsch, president, "is to have the Trolleys available for weddings and special occasions. W're looking forward to meeting the community's needs and interests and exploring other possibilities for the vehicles, including special tours of the area," Deutsch said.

Advantage Transportation also operates Albany Yellow Cab, a business established in 1918. The company also operates STAR Service for the Capital District Transportation Authority. STAR is Special Transit Available by Request, a service offering transportation alternatives to people with disabilities or impairments that prevents them from using normal CDTA routes and services. The company provides medical transportation for New York State Medicaid and surrounding local hospitals.

The Trolleys will enhance the company’s fleet of wedding vehicles that includes exotic limousines and antique vehicles including a 1937 white Rolls Royce and a 1963 white Bentley.

Advantage Transit's fleet ranges from executive sedans and limousines to shuttle vans and buses.

The Albany Aqua Ducks opened in 2004. In 2006, they added three trolleys to their fleet.
