Press RoomAbout the DUCK Vehicles Today’s DUCK The vehicles are 39-feet long and 8.5-feet wide and weigh 17,000 lbs. Each DUCK seats 42 people on bus-style, padded seats. The Hydra-Terra is powered on land and water by Caterpillar 210 horsepower engines. On land, the vehicle can be operated like a bus at normal speed. In the water, a 26-inch propeller pushes the vessel through the water at about six to seven knots. There is a dark, smoked top on each DUCK that provides shade, but does not obstruct vision on tours. The sides of the vehicles are open, free-air design with roll-down windows that can be used for inclement weather. Heaters also have been installed, as well as a sound-system for use during the tours. The Hydra-Terras are New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, DOT and U.S. Coast Guard inspected and equipped with all of the latest safety equipment for land and marine use. They are operated by U.S. Coast Guard Certified Master Captains on the water and New York State Department of Motor Vehicles’ certified chauffeurs with passenger endorsements while traveling on land.
The name, DUCK, is derived from a special vehicle Visa, Mastercard, Gift Certificate, Check or Cash accepted
