Quack Up With Two Ducks!
Albany Aqua Ducks Add
More SPLASH to Capital City!
The Arrival of I. Emma Duck
ALBANY, N.Y. – Beginning their second year of operation
as the only amphibious tour company in New York State, the Albany Aqua
Ducks have added a second DUCK boat to double the fun of seeing Albany’s
sites!
I. Emma Duck joins the Albany Aqua Ducks in 2005. Like her big brother,
named Alfalfa A. Duck, Emma is a state-of-the-art amphibious, Hydra-Terra
vehicle manufactured by C.A.M.I., LLC.
While the look of the 17,000-lb., 39-feet long vehicle causes heads
to turn, after the first year those in New York’s Capital City
know what to expect from the DUCKS.
“The Albany Aqua Ducks add another element of fun and learning
to the city,” said Albany Mayor Jerry Jennings. “The tours
are popular with both out-of-town visitors and Capital Region residents
and have given impetus to making our beautiful Capital City the premier
destination in New York State,” the Mayor said.
DUCK tours are also popular in a number of other cities including Boston,
Providence and Philadelphia.
Through early November, the Albany Aqua Ducks feature a full season
of 75-minute, guided historic tours and more, taking passengers on the
most fun-filled way to see the Capital City – by land and water
– offering their special SPLASHDOWN! into the Hudson River for
a mariner’s view.
“Our inaugural year in 2004 was a great success,” said Albany
Aqua Ducks President Bob Wolfgang. “With our first Duck, Alfalfa,
we transported 14,000 passengers.”
“We knew shortly after we started last year that we would need
a second Duck to meet the public’s needs,” said Wolfgang.

“In addition to offering the regularly scheduled historic tours,
packages with area restaurants and entertainment venues have proven
very popular. Plus, we offer educational field trips and packages for
birthday parties, groups, class reunions and others who want a unique
way to enjoy the city,” he said.
The Albany Aqua Ducks’ Team is made up of Wolfgang and partners
Lou Renna (Dutch Apple Cruises of Albany) and John Giordano (Plaza Travel
and Meetings of Latham). Both Wolfgang and Renna operate the DUCK and
have achieved U.S. Coast Guard Certified Master Captain status for water
travel. They also are New York State Department of Motor Vehicles’
certified chauffeurs with passenger endorsements for land travel. Accompanied
by trained tour guides, the DUCK has room for 42 passengers and has
roll-down windows and heat for cool weather. The vehicle was developed
by C.A.M.I, of Bluffton, South Carolina and manufactured for Albany
Aqua Ducks at their Rochester, N.Y. plant. The vehicles are New York
State Department of Motor Vehicles, DOT and U.S. Coast Guard inspected
and equipped with all of the latest safety equipment for land and marine
use.
Historic tours aboard Albany Aqua Ducks leave daily from the Albany
Heritage Area Visitors Center at the corner of Broadway and Clinton
Avenue in historic QUACKenbush Square through early November. Albany
Aqua Ducks have offices on Quay Street at the base of Hudson River Way
in Corning Preserve.
